Solution: The participants in the conference were handed over the Radio Frequency Keypad which is an aid to give opinion. A set of questions were shown on screen after each topic was discussed by the key opinion leaders. The significant pointers from each discussion were converted into questions and were polled.

The voting percentages were an indication of convergent/divergent views held by the entire delegation.

The team from the organization’s headquarters facilitated this workshop with the intervention of case studies, videos and role plays.
Requirement: How can the learning by each individual be captured in a conference room filled with more than 150 people?
How can the lessons captured make an impact on others?
To make one understand the bigger context through case studies and role plays.
Solution:

  • A set of questions were shown on screen after a case study or a video
  • The questions were polled
  • Roles were reversed or a new dimension was introduced as part of the case study/video
  • The same questions were polled again to get the marked shift in perception of a situation

History: Novo Nordisk, a leading pharmaceutical company breaking grounds in diabetes formulation was on an awareness campaign all over India. The primary objective was to engage the General physicians and the specialists across all regions in India and educate them on the disease, the new treatments etc.
Requirement: To make the engagement as interactive and lively as possible and to remove the dreariness in the conferences.
Solution: All the participants in the conference are handed over the Radio Frequency Keypad which is an aid to give the opinion. On the speaker front, the presentations are interspersed with the questions to break the monotony of a monologue.

When it’s time for questions, the participants read the same and poll in their choice to make their opinion known. The question will be on something that needs to be emphasized or something that needs to be driven across or something which needs to be a take-away from the conference.
The question, the participant’s opinion, the percentage of opinions for each of the choices and the debate later only increased the interaction and took the conference to a whole new level.

History: IBM Developer Works initiated a challenge for Developers called IBM Developer Super Star Contest. Here the invitation was to register, promote and present the application in various IT campuses to garner the support from the technical community.
More than 600 applications were received. Top 8 developers presented their application in front of their peers.
Requirement:
  • To grade each application on a scale of 1 to 5
  • To choose the best application
Solution: The audience were given a keypad each to opine on the application. As each application was rated, the average rating was calculated to remove the bias, if any.
